Why do so many solo or small companies fail? Can it be since the owners weren't good enough in what they did? Oftentimes that's simply not true. Believing that being great at what you do or being a specialist is everything you need. There are two entirely different Tracks you need to master. First, you will need to be good at providing excellent service or product. They invest their time trying to deliver services rather than building a company, which leads us into the second track building a business enterprise. Not only do you will necessity to be great at everything you do, but you will also need to master the abilities and state of mind it may take to run a company, such as strategic planning, advertising, sales, finance, productivity, priority based actions, management abilities, self-discipline, and self-motivation. 

Wasting money on poorly crafted or pointless marketing materials. Don't spend money building an internet website or create a business card, logo or booklet until you understand what makes them work to bring clients. If you wish to be a specialist and are severe then you need a specialist website which will get people to take actions and will appear professional. The same holds true for your other marketing materials. Even whether you've a superior item, if you do not know how to market it efficiently and after that close the sale, you'll struggle. In the modern information-laden world, you will need to know how to stand out and transmit your message consistently and efficiently. 

You've got to learn the proven advertising strategies and systems which therefore are working for your top competitors and you will need to master them. You need to create advertising a daily activity, not simply something you do when you've extra time.
